Trials Evolution’s creative director, Antti Ilvessuo had hidden encrypted signs throughout the Riders of Doom DLC released in December 2012. While sniffing for the clues Ilvessuo had slipped, I was left spiraling down the relative path of least resistance. In a moment of brute force logic, a crack in the code was assumed as I broke through the creative director’s schemes to unlock the hidden song that would end up going viral on my YouTube channel as well as being featured in a few Kotaku articles. I discovered how to create team tracks and was a member of the first two track building teams, Trials Commune & db VOLTRON db.
I worked out how to change the color of any object in the Trials Evolution editor, even pieces that had no coloration properties available. I also managed to apply physics to objects like checkpoints which previously had no physicality. A Redlynx developer Arno Male complimented the exploit, suggesting that the bug was good enough to be used as a feature. Ultimately Redlynx had to patch the feature/bug as explained in this podcast episode.
